Looking for Korean novel sites where you can find the raws for that regression fantasy or romance fantasy everyone keeps talking about? The short answer: go to the platform the novel is serialized on. That's usually KakaoPage or Naver Series for the big hits, Ridibooks for romance and BL, Munpia and Novelpia for male-lead fantasy, and Joara or Bomtoon for a lot of the rest. Then run the chapter through a translator like OpenNovel, whose glossary keeps names consistent the whole way through.
Introduction
Raws refers to the original, untranslated chapters of a web novel, on the site where the author publishes them. Every English version, official or fan translation, MTL or hand-edited, starts from those.
Korean web novels mostly live on a handful of big platforms, and a lot of them sell chapters one by one once you're past the free ones. If you've been searching Reddit for Korean novel raws, you've probably seen people pointing at reupload sites. We won't link those here. They go down without warning, and the official platform gets the newest chapters first anyway.
If you mainly care about the legal side and official English releases, we've got a separate post on how to read Korean novels legally. This one is about where the novels actually come from.
Which Korean Novel Sites Do Authors Actually Publish On?
These are the Korean webnovel sites English readers usually end up on.
KakaoPage (카카오페이지) - One of the two giants. A huge share of the Korean web novels that got famous in English (fantasy, regression and hunter stories, romance fantasy) were serialized on KakaoPage. The Solo Leveling web novel is the classic example. Buying chapters from outside Korea takes a bit of a workaround, so here's a full guide on how to buy chapters on KakaoPage without a Korean phone number.
Naver Series (네이버 시리즈) - The other giant, run by Naver. It carries a big catalogue of paid web novels across fantasy, martial arts and romance. Naver also runs a free web novel section at Naver Webnovel, which is the one on our supported sites list.
Ridibooks (리디북스) - A big home for romance, romance fantasy and BL web novels. If you read female-lead novels, a lot of what you want is on Ridibooks. There's a step-by-step guide to buying chapters on Ridibooks from overseas.
Novelpia (노벨피아) - A newer platform with a lot of male-lead web fiction and a big pool of amateur authors posting alongside the paid series. We have a guide on buying chapters on Novelpia too.
Munpia (문피아) - A long-running site for male-oriented genre fiction: fantasy, murim (martial arts) and modern fantasy. A lot of the hardcore genre stuff starts on Munpia.
Joara (조아라) - One of the oldest Korean web novel sites, with a large community of amateur writers. It's on our supported list.
Bomtoon (봄툰) - Mostly known for BL webtoons, but it carries BL novels too. See the guide on buying chapters on Bomtoon.
Each site has its own sign-up, payment and adult verification setup. Our raw websites list tracks which ones OpenNovel supports and has the per-site guides in one place.
How Do You Read Korean Raws in English?
Here's the workflow most raw readers settle into.
-
Get the original Korean title. - Searching the English title on a Korean site usually goes nowhere, since English titles are often totally different. Look the novel up on NovelList or NovelUpdates, which usually list the Korean title. The NovelList raw finder helps too.
-
Find it on the original platform. - Use the list above. Big-name fantasy is often KakaoPage or Naver Series, romance and BL often Ridibooks or Bomtoon, hardcore genre fiction often Munpia or Novelpia. Search the Korean title on the site and open chapter one.
-
Make an account and buy chapters if you need to. - Paid chapters have to be bought on the site first, and paying from outside Korea is the fiddly part. The KakaoPage and Ridibooks guides above walk through it without a Korean phone number.
-
Translate the chapter with OpenNovel. - Paste the chapter link into OpenNovel, or use the browser extension on sites you have to log into, which is most of the Korean ones. It's free to try and works on web, iOS and Android. The getting-started guide covers setup.
-
Lock the cast in the glossary. - If the MC's name comes out wrong, or a skill or guild name reads oddly, fix it in the glossary right away. Later chapters pick up your version automatically.

What About Korean Novel Translation Sites?
People usually mean one of two things by this.
Official English sites. Some Korean web novels get licensed and published in English, on platforms like Tapas and Webnovel. If your novel has one, that's the easiest way to read it. Plenty never get licensed, though, especially newer or niche ones.
Fan translation and MTL sites. These vary a lot in quality, and whether they're allowed to host the chapters is often unclear. Names also tend to change from chapter to chapter. More on that in the legal reading post linked up top.
Why Not Just Use Google Translate on the Raw Site?
You can, and for a quick look at chapter one it's fine. Over 300 chapters it gets rough.
Names don't stick. Korean names get romanized one way in chapter 5 and another way in chapter 6, or translated as if they were regular words. A glossary pins one spelling for the whole novel.
Pronouns and speech levels get lost. Korean drops subjects a lot, so plain MTL guesses at who's talking and what pronoun to use. AI translation that reads more context, plus a glossary that records each character's gender, keeps it steadier.
Game-system terms turn into soup. Skill names, status windows, guild ranks and constellation titles are where raw MTL falls apart. Lock them in the glossary and they stay put.
Some sites block it. Browser translation doesn't work on every Korean platform, and the ones that need a login are often the worst.
What Common Mistakes Should You Avoid?
- Searching the English title on Korean sites. Get the original Korean title first.
- Assuming one site has everything. Each platform has its own catalogue and exclusives, so check where the novel is serialized before you start hunting.
- Skipping the glossary early. Sort out the main cast in the first few chapters, not 200 chapters in.
- Switching translators mid-novel. Every tool spells names its own way, so hopping between them brings the name chaos right back.
- Relying on reupload sites. They disappear and take your bookmarks and progress with them.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Korean novel sites for raws? Depends on the genre. The raw websites list linked above shows which ones OpenNovel supports.
Where do people on Reddit find Korean novel raws? A lot of Reddit threads point at reupload sites, which come and go. If you want Korean novel sites that actually stay up, stick to the official platforms above. NovelUpdates and NovelList usually tell you which one a given novel came from.

Can I read Korean novels in English for free? Some Korean platforms have free chapters, and OpenNovel is free to try. Paid chapters still need to be bought on the original site first. If you get stuck, ask in OpenNovel's Discord.
